Does getting a low score on the PTCB exam for pharmacy technician matter to the employer?

DC asked:

I am trying to enroll in the pharmacy technician course at my local community college. I am taking other classes there and I was wondering if employers look at low scores on the certification exam. I work for Costco Wholesale now and would like to know this information to get into the pharmacy because there is a lot of competition to get into the pharmacy department. thank you.

An employer will not ask for your score. They might ask if you are certified, but that is all. At some places being certified is an advantage and at others, it is not. Most can self study and pass the exam.

Most employers just want to know you have your PTCB. They never asked me for my score. However, with that being said, when I applied as a tech at my local hospital they did want to know how many times I passed the test .
