What is needed to become a certified Pharmacy Technician in Florida?

Bluemoon asked:

I’m taking the Pharmacy Technician course from a distance-learning school in Pennsylvania, and yes, I’ve checked it, it is accredited. I live in central Florida. I am enjoying studying the books at home on my own. I was already looking into the work possibilities after I graduate. Do I have to take the State Board Exam to work anywhere? I’ve heard it’s voluntary, but people say with the certification you get better pay. Also, I was wondering what the salary range would be. Serious, honest answers are appreciated here.

DC asked:

I am trying to enroll in the pharmacy technician course at my local community college. I am taking other classes there and I was wondering if employers look at low scores on the certification exam. I work for Costco Wholesale now and would like to know this information to get into the pharmacy because there is a lot of competition to get into the pharmacy department. thank you.

I have a 4 year experience working at a pharmacy. It was a private family own pharmacy. I was hired as a Clerk but 3 months later I was working in the back as a technician. What will I be doing as a Pharmacy Technician?

*LaUrEN* asked:

I just recently got offered a job at the store I work at to become a Pharmacy Technician. Its a step up from what I am right now, so of course I took it.

But what I want to know is, what sort of things will I be doing as a tech?
i am well aware i may have to do “busy” work, but my ultimate goal is to go into pharmaceutical sales. why would i pass up an opportunity that could very well be good for me?
Pharmacy tech
